I offer at-home breastfeeding consultations for nursing mothers at any stage of the breastfeeding journey. The help and advice each mother needs is often different, and I provide individualised support to address each mother and baby’s needs. Having breastfed my own 3 children for a number of years, supporting breastfeeding women is a genuine passion of mine and I strive to make each women feel as confident and empowered as possible through the breastfeeding journey. Getting the right support at the right time is vital, so please get in touch if you’d like some help. You can see more about my breastfeeding consultations here.
In addition to my own breastfeeding consultations as a breastfeeding specialist , the following are other avenues of support available for you in Japan/Tokyo.
La Leche League: A worldwide organisation whose mission is to help mothers breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.
I am an accredited La Leche League leader and run the LLL Tokyo Central group along with Celia Hughes. We hold monthly meetings and all nursing mothers, whatever their journey, are welcome to attend. We also encourage pregnant women to join to help them prepare for their own breastfeeding journeys once baby arrives. Meetings are FREE to attend so that support can be accessible to all.
Iona Macnab: Iona is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She lived for many years in Tokyo and still offers phone, email and Skype consultations to the expat community in Japan. She can be contacted here or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Celia Hughes: Celia is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Originally from France, she worked as a midwife before moving overseas. In Tokyo, she is my back-up doula partner. You can find out about her breastfeeding support here
Jocelyn Saito: A new lactation coach in Tokyo. Jocelyn was originally a client of mine back in 2017 and discovered a passion for breastfeeding her son. Using this passion of hers to study to become a lactation coach, she now offers breastfeeding consultations and you can see her info here.
