At Tokyo Pregnancy Group’s meeting on Thursday, the topic was choosing a caregiver (as well as being a general pregnancy Q&A). Brett Iimura was the speaker via Skype. For those who don’t know of Brett, she used to live in Japan and worked as a childbirth educator here for many years before moving back to America. She has an amazing knowledge of the different birth options available and knows a lot about the philosophies and practices of a huge range of maternity hospitals and birth houses in Tokyo. For anyone newly pregnant and wondering what kind of birth you’d like, of wanting to know what kind of place offers the kind of birth you hope for, she’s a great person to get in contact with and you can find her site and contact info here 🙂
Today I went to the Muffins for Midwives charity get-together in Shinjuku Gyoen and it was a lot of fun! A great group of mums and mums-to-be gathered and I think we managed to raise around 22,000 yen to support Maternity Worldwide!
Tomorrow I’ll be going to the Tokyo Pregnancy Group meeting as the guest speaker to talk about my doula support, Tokyo Mothers Group and answer questions from the ladies who attend. I always love the TPG meetings – being surrounded by wonderful baby bumps and such happiness radiating from the women 🙂
